Amazon PII Breach Initiative

In the event of a server/database hack - Use rules and alerts to watch for a hack attempt - block unauthorised and unknown IP access attempts in the event of a suspected breach. Allow access from authorised and know IP addresses only. Development investigates the system logs to identify any remedial action and system redesigns to mitigate future hack attempts.
The security incidence plan is reviewed every quarter (every three months) and after any significant software or hardware infrastructure changes. Policies can be made available to Amazon where deemed necessary.
All event and analysis reports are securely held, and a chain of custody is maintained - these reports are available to Amazon upon request.
In the event of unauthorised customer data access - block the access attempt and blacklist IP(s). Immediately change and secure credentials and two-factor auth. Which for further attempts and ensure logs are analysed by development.
In the event of the leak of PII - Isolate the server from the internet and other servers in its internal network. Review access logs with development. Scan and clean up the server with multiple antivirus software; reset to previous breach state if deemed necessary. Once complete, reintroduce the server to its local intranet and then the internet.
In the event of a breach, a case will be made with Amazon Support within 12 hours of the breach and a copy emailed directly to [email protected] within 12 hours of the breach. We will not contact regulatory bodies or customers about the breach on behalf of Amazon, unless Amazon explicitly instructs us to do so in writing. If our data is required for legal proceedings, we will inform Amazon within 12 hours of this request.
